Ransomware was 57X more destructive in 2021 than it was in 2015. In India, small businesses are at the highest risk of ransomware attacks accounting for around 54% of total attacks from January 2020 to July 2022. Also, 2 in 3 Indian SMBs suffered over Rs 3.5 crore business loss in post-pandemic cyber attacks. As per Times of India, a renowned newspaper in India, around 78%of organizations were the victims of malware attacks in 2021. According to the statistics, the organizations paid an average ransom of $1.2 million to hackers to save their data. At the beginning of 2022, the primary target of hackers were data centers and IT sectors. A company’s data is equivalent to the previous generation’s gold, so protecting data and their organizations from cyber attacks have become a board level top priority. ThriveDX’s Global Cybersecurity Awareness Study , with 1900 security and IT personnel, found that 97% of cyber attacks try to trick a user with some social engineering scheme, which means human factor security is now a major priority.
