Exploring Best Practices in Waste Management: A Visit to Community Waste Disposal (CWD) in Dallas, Texas

On Friday, April 7th, 2023, Ajuba organized the visit the Community Waste Disposal (CWD) facility in North Texas for Mr. Krunesh Garg, Chief Engineer, Punjab Pollution Board, India. The visit to CWD was a truly eye-opening experience. As an organization committed to environmental sustainability and waste management, we were impressed by CWD’s operations and best practices.

We learned about the company’s humble beginnings in 1984 when it started with only one truck, and how it has grown to become the largest privately owned waste management company in North Texas. We were also impressed by the team’s dedication to sustainability, as evidenced by their recycling programs and commitment to reducing waste.

We had the pleasure of meeting with Robert Medigovich, who has been working with CWD for over 25 years and gained valuable insights from his extensive knowledge and experience. It was also great to see the second-generation entrepreneurs like Jason Roemer taking the principles and learning from their parents to serve the community.

Paul Hansen, General Manager of CWD took the time to explain the entire waste management process within CWD, and we were impressed by his expertise and commitment to sustainability. Tommy Johnson and his team’s focus on customer service and managing the fleet across different cities with over 190 trucks was also remarkable.

We would like to express our gratitude to the City of Allen officials Eric Strong, Eric Ellwanger, and Donna Giles for organizing this visit for us. A special thanks to the Mayor Ken Fulk of Allen who has been always in the forefront for the community service and leadership for innovative solutions for the City of Allen. We had an incredible opportunity to witness how the city works with private firms like CWD to offer services to residents and how the waste management industry contributes to the overall well-being of the community.

The tour and best practices shared by the CWD team were incredibly informative, and we appreciate the opportunity to learn from their expertise. As an organization committed to environmental sustainability and waste management, we look forward to staying in touch with CWD and continuing our collaboration.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post, and we hope that it inspires you to take action towards a more sustainable future.
