Exploring State-of-the-Art Wastewater Treatment Processes at the Flower Mound Treatment Plant: A Visit Organized by Ajuba

Ajuba, a leading provider of cross border advisory services, recently organized a visit to the Flower Mound Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) for Mr. Krunesh Garg, Chief Engineer, Punjab Pollution Board, India. The purpose of the visit was to showcase the state-of-the-art technology and innovative processes used at the WWTP, and to share best practices with Mr. Garg.

The Flower Mound WWTP has a long history of successful operation, dating back to 1972. Over the years, the plant has undergone several expansions to keep up with the growing needs of the town. The most recent expansion, in 2001, brought the plant’s treatment capacity to 10 million gallons per day (MGD).

The WWTP uses a conventional activated sludge treatment process in its original treatment train, which consists of aeration basins and final clarifiers. The plant also has a parallel treatment train that uses sequencing batch reactors (SBRs). The secondary effluent from each of the treatment trains is combined and filtered through cloth media filters, and then disinfected using ultraviolet (UV) irradiation prior to discharge at the plant outfall.

The town has implemented several treatment improvements over the years, including a new UV system and a sodium hypochlorite feed system. These upgrades have helped to increase the plant’s efficiency and effectiveness in treating wastewater.

During the visit, Mr. Garg had the opportunity to tour the facility and learn about the various treatment processes and equipment used at the plant. He was impressed by the advanced technology and the dedication of the plant’s staff in ensuring that the treated effluent meets the required standards for discharge.

Ajuba would like to extend our sincere thanks to Clayton Riggs, Director of Public Works, Matthew Woods, Director of Environmental Services, Shelly Willson, Customer Relations Manager, as well as James Childers, Town Manager, and Mayor Derek France, for their assistance in organizing the visit and making it a success.

Overall, the visit to the Flower Mound WWTP was a valuable learning experience for Mr. Garg, and we hope that the knowledge and insights gained will help him to improve the wastewater treatment processes in his home country of India.
